Washington, DC – June 3, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Representative John Boozman (AR-03) along with U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor announced that Fayetteville Municipal Airport-Drake Field will receive $3.5 million and Rogers Municipal Airport-Carter Field will receive $1 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Drake Field’s funds will be used to improve the runway safety area and Carter Field’s funds will be used to construct a taxiway.

“These funds will go a long way toward supporting the growth and development of Northwest Arkansas,” Boozman said. “These airports are a vital component to accommodating the needs and demands of our area.”

“I’m pleased to see these airports receive federal dollars to make necessary safety improvements,” said Lincoln. “I remain committed to ensuring that our state receives much-needed funding that also serves to enhance local economic development.”

“Strengthening airport infrastructure is critical to both passenger and resident safety in Northwest Arkansas,” said Pryor. “It’s a smart example of how the federal government can reinvest taxpayer money into a local community to spur economic development and keep our airports in proper working condition.”
