Lincoln, Pryor, Snyder Announce Housing Assistance Grant to Serve Five Arkansas Counties

111 Washington, DC – April 15, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and U.S. Representative Vic Snyder (AR-02) today announced that Universal Housing Development Corporation in Russellville will receive a $597,310 U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development grant to provide the technical assistance necessary to help 40 families in western and central Arkansas build their own homes.

Universal Housing Development Corporation provides financial assistance, counseling, and building and repair services for low-income families in Pope, Conway, Johnson, Logan and Yell Counties.

“Having a safe and secure place to live is a critical component of building a stable and productive life,” Lincoln said. “I am glad the Universal Housing Development Corporation in Russellville received these federal funds so they can continue to help Arkansans access the resources that every family needs.”

“Independent living and professional growth and development go hand in hand,” Pryor said. “This important program will make a real difference in improving the lives of many Arkansans and is a wise investment in our local economy.”

“The Universal Housing Development Corporation supports the vitality of Central Arkansas’s rural communities,” Snyder said.

USDA Rural Development grants support public facilities and services, economic development, and technical assistance to help address the diverse and unique needs of rural communities.
