10 Low-Income Homebuyers in Northwest Arkansas Helped by Affordable Housing Grant
A $69,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) and member institution Simmons First National Bank will help 10 very low-income families afford new homes through the Universal Development Housing Corporation (UHDC). The AHP funds will be used for down-payment and closing-cost assistance for participants in the Mutual Self-Help program
Arkansas Dream Center, Faulkner County
The Arkansas Dream Center was presented with a $50,000 check today on behalf of the Faulkner County Home Builders Association from the Home Building Industry Disaster Relief Fund of the National Association of Home Builders to assist in rebuilding homes in Faulkner County for uninsured and underinsured residents whose homes were destroyed in the 2014 tornado that devastated major areas of Vilonia and Mayflower, Arkansas.
HILL VOTES TO AUTHORIZE FUNDING FOR KEY INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS
Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2353, Highway and Transportation Funding Act of 2015, by a vote of 387-35. H.R. 2353 is a short-term extension through the end of July to authorize funding to the Highway Trust Fund. Currently, the Highway Trust Fund is scheduled to run out at the end of this month. EPA Improves Water Quality and Infrastructure in Arkansas
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $9,165,000 to the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (ANRC) for projects such as replacing sewer lines, improving wastewater treatment facilities, and upgrading collection systems. The grant is part of EPA’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF), a program that provides low-interest, flexible loans to municipalities and rural water districts
