March 05, 2009 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and Representatives Marion Berry (AR-01) and John Boozman (AR-03) today announced that the Northwest Regional Housing Authority will receive a grant of $254,820. The funds will enable the organization to provide assistance to 21 families in Boone, Carroll, Marion, Newton and Searcy Counties.

“The Northwest Regional Housing Authority continues to provide valuable assistance in helping low-income individuals find and obtain affordable housing,” said Berry. “These funds will allow this organization to help families who are in need and I’m pleased to see this assistance available to these counties.”

“Every Arkansas family deserves to live in a safe, secure home,” said Lincoln. “These funds will provide much-needed assistance to Arkansans, offering security to these families and ultimately strengthening the communities in which they live.”

“The Northwest Regional Housing Authority plays a vital role moving low-income families towards greater self-sufficiency,” said Pryor. “I’m pleased 21 Arkansas families will benefit from this program during these turbulent economic times.”

“The Northwest Regional Housing Authority is taking proactive steps to ensure Arkansans have safe, affordable housing,” Boozman said. “This is a valuable service to rural communities especially in this tough economic climate.”

The Northwest Regional Housing Authority grant is a Self-Help Housing Technical Assistance Grant, a United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development program. The funding provides public and non-profit organizations assistance in recruitment, screening, loan packaging, and related activities for prospective self-help housing applicants.
