Lincoln, Pryor, Snyder Announce $96K in Housing Assistance for Veterans in North Little Rock
Washington, DC – June 2, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor and U.S. Representative Vic Snyder (AR-02) today announced that the North Little Rock Housing Authority will receive a $96,564 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to help local veterans secure affordable housing.
The North Little Rock Housing Authority received funding under HUD’s Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) program, which awards funds to public housing agencies that partner with VA medical facilities to provide rental assistance vouchers for homeless veterans. Currently, 85 North Little Rock veterans are receiving assistance under the VASH program.
“Our nation’s veterans have made countless sacrifices to help keep Arkansans and Americans safe, and it is our responsibility as elected officials to ensure that our brave servicemen and women have the resources they need when they return home,” Lincoln said. “I am proud to announce funding that will not only help provide affordable housing for our veterans, but also help us follow through on the promise we have made to those who have given so much to this country.”
“We must keep our commitment to take care of our troops before, during, and after they serve our nation. These funds will help ensure that veterans in North Little Rock can get safe, affordable housing as well as a new start on life,” Pryor said.
“I applaud the North Little Rock Housing Authority for doing their part,” Snyder said. “Providing a home helps veterans as they seek to achieve and maintain a stable and productive life.”
